In December of 2005, in Baku, the exhibition named “Azerbaijan Cartoonists” was opened which was organized by Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture, the Union of Azerbaijan Artists and Azerbaijan Cartoonists’ Union. In the exhibition, the presentation ceremony of the album-book “Azerbaijan Cartoonists” was also held; the author of the book is Bayram Hajizadeh.
The President of Azerbaijan Cartoonists’ Union and the author of the book Bayram Hajizadeh informed the press that works of nearly 40 Azerbaijan cartoonists had been placed in the album that was published on the occasion of the centenary jubilee of “Molla Nasraddin” magazine and 125th jubilee of People’s Artist Azim Azimzadeh. The album formed a certain notion about the development of caricature art in our country. Works of Azim Azimzadeh, the founder of the national cartoon genre in our country, and also works of his successors from different generations, during last hundred years, were included in the album. Readers became closely acquainted with the works of G.Khaligov, I.Akhundov, Najafgulu, Z.Karimbeyli, G.Guliyev, P.Shandin, V.Ternavski, Y.Asadov, E.Mirzayev, B.Hajizadeh, S.Soltanli.
